The Book That Saved the Earth
1. Noodle avoids offending Think-Tank but at the same time he corrects his mistakes. How does he manage to do that?
Noodle is a clever and tactful assistant. He knows that Think-Tank is arrogant and does not like being corrected directly. Therefore, instead of openly pointing out Think-Tank's mistakes, Noodle suggests ideas politely and respectfully.
Whenever Think-Tank makes an incorrect conclusion about the books on Earth, Noodle carefully presents facts in the form of suggestions. He often pretends that the ideas are extensions of Think-Tank's own thoughts. This allows him to correct the mistakes without hurting Think-Tank's ego. His diplomacy and intelligence help prevent conflict while ensuring that the truth is gradually revealed.
2. If you were in Noodle's place, how would you handle Think-Tank's mistakes?
If I were in Noodle's place, I would handle Think-Tank's mistakes politely and respectfully. Since he is the leader, directly criticizing him might create unnecessary conflict.
I would present facts carefully, provide evidence, and explain my viewpoint in a calm manner. Like Noodle, I would try to guide him towards the correct conclusion without embarrassing him. This approach would help maintain a good working relationship while ensuring that accurate decisions are made.
3. Do you think books are being replaced by the electronic media? Can we do away with books altogether?
Electronic media has become extremely popular because it provides quick access to information through computers, tablets, smartphones, and the internet. Many people now read e-books, watch educational videos, and use online resources for learning.
However, books cannot be completely replaced. Printed books offer a unique reading experience and help improve concentration, imagination, and critical thinking. They do not require electricity, internet access, or electronic devices. Books are also reliable sources of knowledge that can be preserved for generations.
Therefore, electronic media and books should be viewed as complementary rather than competing resources. While technology has changed the way people access information, books continue to remain valuable and irreplaceable.
4. Why are books referred to as a man's best companion? Which is your favourite book and why? Write a paragraph about that book.
Books are referred to as a person's best companion because they provide knowledge, entertainment, inspiration, and guidance. They can be read at any time and help people learn about different cultures, ideas, and experiences. Books never demand anything in return and remain faithful companions throughout life.
My favourite book is "The Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank. This book is based on the real-life experiences of Anne Frank during the Second World War. I admire the book because it teaches courage, hope, and optimism even in difficult circumstances. Anne's thoughts are honest, intelligent, and inspiring. Through her diary, readers learn about the importance of freedom, human dignity, and perseverance. The book leaves a deep emotional impact and encourages us to value peace and humanity. For these reasons, it is one of my favourite books.
